What is Tiny Hands Learn?
Tiny Hands Learn is a set of free learning programs for children aged 2 to 7. Each program is a little world with its own guide, where children learn one important skill a few minutes at a time, through play. Learning to read and write is the first. Numbers, money and music come next.
There are no ads and no paywall, ever. A free parent account keeps each child's progress, so they can carry on on another device.
How Learn teaches
- Little and often. Levels take about five minutes, so learning fits around the day and ends before attention runs out.
- Voice first. Children who can't read yet are guided by voice and pictures, never by written instructions.
- Made for their age. A 2-year-old listens and taps; a 6-year-old reads and spells. Each child starts where they are.
- Learning that sticks. What a child finds hard comes back more often, and what they know comes back less, until it stays.
The programs
Reading and writing (ready now)
A gentle phonics program, the way schools teach reading: letters by their sounds, blending sounds into words, tricky words, writing letters, and short stories to read. More about Reading.
Numbers (coming soon)
Counting, recognising numbers to 20, comparing more and less, shapes and patterns, and first adding and taking away.
Money (coming soon)
Nobody teaches young children about money, so we will. With Penny the pig, through games, short videos and lessons:
- Saving: the ant who stores food all summer is ready for winter; the grasshopper who sang all summer isn't.
- Investing: waiting now for something better later, and thinking long-term.
- Assets and liabilities: things that bring money in (a lemon tree) and things that take money out.
- Inflation: money left in a jar is like an ice cube that slowly melts, so we put it into things that grow.
- Running a lemonade stand: what you earn, what it costs, what's left over, and how to tell people about it.
Music (coming soon)
Keeping a beat, high and low sounds, fast and slow, singing in tune, and listening to music from around the world.
Questions parents ask
Is Tiny Hands Learn really free?
Yes. Every program is free, with no ads, no paywall and no in-app purchases. Tiny Hands is made by a dad, Mauro, and kept free by voluntary donations from parents: make a donation · read our story.
What age is Tiny Hands Learn for?
Children from about 2 to 7. Each program adapts to the child's age, so younger children start with listening and tapping, and older children read, write and solve.
Why does Learn need a parent account?
To keep each child's progress and let them continue on another device. The account belongs to the parent, it's free, and you can delete it and all its data at any time.
Does my child need to read to use it?
No. Everything is guided by voice and pictures, so children who can't read yet can play on their own.
When will Numbers, Money and Music be ready?
